SPC Risk: SLIGHT - VERIFICATION
Chasers: Dean S, Stardust W
Area Covered: Norman, OK
Miles Logged: 24.1
Largest Hail: quarter
Tornadoes: ziltcho!

Synopsis/Chase:
Surface low in NW OK with dryline extending SSW through western OK into north TX. Strong SSE surface winds in the warm sector, but gulf moisture slow to arrive with dewpoints into the low 60s by late evening. Largely unidirectional 850-500mb shear led to linear mode to storms, but one discrete cell managed to develop just SW of Norman by days end which slowly intensified as its attendant wall cloud moved over OU campus. Quarter size hail fell on 12th street just north of home while golfballs fell in and around Lake Thunderbird.

Got a nice view of the wall cloud, but a bad spot to take a picture, so all the foreground tree's blocked the goods. Not too bad for the 1st chase of the year. Only 24.1 miles to see a little action. More chases to come!
